1. What is hemoglobin powder?
Answer: These are red blood cells from beef, which have been isolated
and spray-dried with tempered air into a fine-grained powder with very
high iron content and long shelf life. Our hemoglobin powder is
beef-based and comes from a well-certified producer in the Netherlands
that meets the highest possible industry standards. In an ideal world,
we would have preferred a Swedish organic raw material, but since it is
not available at the moment, we have found the absolute best available
alternative.
2. What does Feméa taste like?
Answer: There are two flavors, Neutral and Kakao. They both taste of oats, with Neutral the berries are felt as well and Kakao has a nice chocolate tone to it. There is a very mild 'irony' nuance in all heme-iron powders, but it can be well masked in many
dishes. In smoothies or in our homemade oat rolls, for example, you cannot distinguish
any difference in taste at all. Raw balls/chocolate balls also turn out
great, in our opinion!
3. How do I use Feméa?
Answer: Our iron-enriched heme-iron powder can easily be mixed into
almost any food. Smoothies, raw balls, bread, porridge, pancakes and
vegetable patties are some good examples of foods that can be iron-enriched with Feméa.
4. How does Feméa perform in cooking?
Answer: It behaves much like oat flour but also gives the food a slightly darker colour than usual.
5. Do you get a scoop with the pouch?
Answer: Yes, indeed it does! All packages include a small scoop so you
can easily measure the desired amount of Feméa. One scoop (10 ml)
contains 5 mg of iron. Our recommended daily dose is 2 scoops (10 mg of
iron). Pregnant women and others in need of higher doses of iron may use up to 3 scoops per day (15 mg of iron). Never exceed the recommended daily dose.
6. How long does a pouch last?
Answer: A 350 gram package contains approximately 58 scoops of Feméa and therefore lasts about a month.
7. How is Feméa best stored?
Answer: Feméa is sensitive to moisture and should therefore, like other dry goods, be stored in a cool and dry place. A regular pantry is, in other words, a perfect place. The shelf life of Feméa is good, and you can find the 'best before' label on the bottom of the package.
8. Who can eat Feméa?
Answer: Feméa is intended for adults and should therefore never be
consumed by young children. Girls begin to have an increased need for
iron in their teenage years and can benefit from an additional iron
source like Feméa, but intake should always be supervised by an adult.
Pregnant women can also benefit from consuming Feméa to boost their iron
levels!
9. Why does Feméa not contain any vitamin C to aid iron absorption?
Answer: Because the hemoglobin powder in Feméa consists of heme-iron, which means the body
absorbs the iron just as well without vitamin C. However, plant sources
contain only non-heme iron, and in those cases, adding vitamin C can be
beneficial.
10. How is Feméa on the stomach?
