Our ingredients and likewise suppliers have been chosen with great care
and always maintain the highest possible quality. Hemoglobin powder is
the super-ingredient that makes Feméa so rich in heme-iron - but what is
it really and what is it used for?
Hemoglobin powder
Hemoglobin powder is produced through a process called
micro-granulation. This involves separating the red blood cells from
cattle and then spray-drying them with tempered air, which includes a
heating process that helps to eliminate any potential bacteria. The
result is a fine-grained powder with a long shelf life and high iron
content. Hemoglobin powder is already used in a number of food products
on the market today and is primarily found in products such as blood
pudding, blood sausage, and thin flatbread but can also appear in other
charcuteries.
Our hemoglobin powder is beef-based and comes from a well-certified
producer in the Netherlands that meets the highest possible industry
standards. In an ideal world, we would have preferred a Swedish organic
raw material, but since it does not exist, we have found
the absolute best available alternative.
Organic gluten-free oats
The other base ingredient in Feméa is an oat flour developed from organically grown oats. Oats are already rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and oat flour is particularly suitable in our heme-iron powders as it blends well and does not impart any disruptive flavor to other foods. Both we and our supplier have analyzed the gluten content in our oat flour to ensure that our products deliver on their promises and are gluten-free.
Feméa Neutral
In addition to the base ingredients of hemoglobin powder and oat flour,
Feméa Neutral contains only blueberry and lingonberry powder from
berries handpicked from the forests of Northern Sweden. The berries have
been carefully dried and ground to preserve all their nutrients. Both
blueberries and lingonberries are fantastic resources with many positive
properties. These exclusive Swedish berries are packed with vitamins
and rich in various types of antioxidants such as anthocyanins and
resveratrol, which are linked to a protective effect against
cardiovascular disease. The berries are also attributed
anti-inflammatory properties and prebiotic effects, meaning a positive
impact on the gut flora. We think that's cool!
Feméa Kakao
To achieve a well-balanced chocolate flavor, in addition to the base
ingredients, Feméa Cocoa contains a carefully balanced combination of
cocoa, date powder (which has been dried and ground in its entirety
after harvest to preserve all its nutrients), and coconut sugar, all
from organic farms. Besides contributing a fine taste, both cocoa and
dates contain unusually high levels of antioxidants such as flavonoids,
which also have anti-inflammatory properties and cardiovascular
benefits. For a balanced sweetness, we have rounded off with unrefined
organic coconut sugar, a natural product derived from the nectar of the
coconut palm. The result - a heme-iron powder with chocolate flavors!
Mini
Ferrum's production facility and operations are inspected and approved
by the Environmental Department in Helsingborg according to current
Swedish legislation. The production is also certified with certificate
"IP Livsmedel grundcertifiering" (GC12-27502) for safe food production
according to the HACCP method.
